Christmas Time

We had a wonderful time celebrating the holiday season before everyone got out for Christmas break! Here are some pictures of all of the fun we had!

Getting ready to go watch the Polar Express in our PJs!

Curling up with a warm blanket and hot cocoa.

Fun at our Christmas party!

Excitement during the Dollar Tree gift swap!

Thank you, parents, for all that you did to make our Christmas party amazing! We loved having you visit and enjoy this time with us. BIG thank you to our incredible room mom, Kandice Thomas, for putting it all together; you are so appreciated! Thank you to Kim Burnett for coming early to help us set up. I am so blessed to have such helpful parents and incredible children in my class!! I hope you all had a magical Christmas break. I am so excited that I got to see your children again this week, they were greatly missed. :)

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM!!!

During our unit about states of matter, we happened to also be reading the book Click Clack Moo, Cows that Type. The matter unit plus cows seemed like a GREAT time to make our own ice cream!! Who knew that a little milk, sugar, and vanilla shaken up with salt and ice would make ice cream?! The children had so much fun with this activity, plus it was super yummy. I'd like to say a BIG thank you to parents who sent in items for this activity. We couldn't have done it without you!

We also had another chance to perform another reader's theater. Great job, kids, with your fluent reading!

Thanksgiving Fun

Right before our Thanksgiving break, the children learned about life in colonial America. They then worked in groups to complete a project on different aspects of colonial America compared to present day America. They created what I like to think of as a page from a nonfiction text, complete with a heading, pictures, captions, and facts about their topics. The topics ranged from clothing to school! Check out the kids working so hard as a team!

The finished projects. I am so proud of the students and all of the hard work they put into these!!
The kids got a little crafty right before the Thanksgiving holiday and had fun making their own silly turkeys!

They looked great hanging from the ceiling!
